The Presidential Food System Coordination Unit (PFSCU), Office of the Vice President, will on Monday, 9th September, 2025 formally honour Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, for his support and active commitment to the agricultural scheme and exemplary demonstration of leadership and commitment to safeguarding farmer- livelihoods in the state.

Governor Oyebanji will same day, commission the Harvesting Hope Caravan, a flagship initiative designed to deepen grassroots engagements, co-create solutions, and jointly implement interventions with citizens at the community level.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Ebenezer Boluwade, said that the commissioning would mark both the ceremonial launch and practical activation of the tailored intervention by the PFSCU in partnership with the Ekiti State Government.

Boluwade, said in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Saturday that the award presentation will take place at the Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti, by 12 noon.

He said that the honour recognises Oyebanji’s outstanding contributions to food security and agricultural development.

He stated, Governor Oyebanji has consistently introduced farmer-friendly initiatives ranging from the provision of modern inputs and support services to policies that encourage agribusiness to thrive

“His administration has placed agriculture at the centre of Ekiti’s development agenda, empowering farmers, boosting productivity, and strengthening the state’s food system.

“The award is not just a personal achievement for the governor, but also a collective victory for the entire farming community in Ekiti.

“The award further cements the state’s reputation as a model of progressive agricultural governance in the Southwest and beyond. Ekiti State is one of the few states that recently procured an Area Yield Index Insurance cover for its farmers against the effects of climate change and production risks,” he stated.
