The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) once again reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, digital learning, and creative collaboration with the successful hosting of EDUTECHMENT 2.0, the second edition of its Education, Technology and Entertainment initiative.

The event attracted a diverse mix of academics, students, alumni, industry experts, creatives, musicians, Nollywood actors, and traditional rulers, creating a unique convergence of intellect, culture, and creativity within the university space.
The Vice-Chancellor FUOYE, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, who warmly welcomed guests and participants to the event, expressed gratitude to the convener of Edutechment, Prof. Olubukola Oyawoye, who is the Director of FUOYE Advancement Centre, for sustaining the initiative.
The VC, who acknowledged the honour earlier bestowed on him by the Faculties of Management Sciences and Engineering, describing it as deeply humbling, noted his personal connection with the event.

He also revealed that 204 professors were promoted, while the number of faculties in the university increased from 10 to 18 under his watch.
Fasina added that during his tenure, FUOYE College of Medicine received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission just as his administration established 23 directorates, stressing that all set agendas were fully accomplished.
The VC advised leaders to always ensure that set agendas were completed, expressed confidence in his successor, Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, who he described as a former VC of BOWEN University and a colleague from the same academic department.

Fasina on the occasion announced plan to launch a 400-page book, which documented the lessons learned during the years of his administration.
In her welcome address, The Convener of EDUTECHMENT 2.0, Prof. Oyawoye described the initiative as “a visionary platform aimed at redefining learning and making education more engaging, relevant and responsive to the realities of a fast-evolving digital world”.
Oyawoye said, “The success recorded during EDUTECHMENT 1.0 provided the momentum for the expanded second edition. This edition was designed to deepen conversations around innovation, strengthen town-and-gown relationships and foster partnerships that drive sustainable development”.

She paid tribute to the outgoing VC, Prof. Fasina, and the university management for their unwavering support, noting that strong leadership and institutional backing were central to the success of EDUTECHMENT 2.0.
