Otun Ekiti, the capital city of Moba Local Government area in Ekiti State, was in celebration mood on Tuesday as Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti held matriculation ceremony for the pioneer students of the Otun Ekiti Campus.

The event where the 80 students were matriculated for the 2025 Contact Session, marked the official commencement of studies at the EKSU Directorate of Continuing Education Programmes at Otun Ekiti.

An elated Oore of Otun Ekiti and Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, Oba Adekunle Adeagbo, who led the Oore-in-Council, members of Egbe Omo Otun and indigenes of the community to the event, said it was a positive development for Mobaland.

Oba Adeagbo, who is the Southwest Coordinator, National Council of Traditional Rulers, congratulated the pioneer students of the campus, and advised them that “education is the key to a bright rewarding future, hence the need for all of you to take your studies seriously”.

The monarch assured the university of the community’s support to the outreach centre to boost its development and increase enrollment.

The Oore said that the presence of the school in the community and the presence of the university topnotch like the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Babatola Ayodele, the deputy Vice Chancellors, Bursar and the directorate’s leadership in Otun Ekiti for the August event would positively impact indigenes and encourage more enrollment “since the university is now at our doorstep”.

In his address to the pioneer students, the VC, Prof. Ayodele, represented by a DVC, congratulated the students and urged them to put in their best, saying, “I wish all of you the best in your academic pursuit. You will all succeed and you will end well”.

The VC also congratulated Oba Adeagbo for the developments in the community during his reign as the paramount ruler of Mobaland.

Ayodele also hailed the Oore-in-Council, Egbe Omo Otun members and all indigenes of the community for support to the centre.

He, however, charged them not to renege on supporting the institution, adding, “The role to uplift this institution is that of all of us”.
