It was a peaceful, serene and tranquil, but colourful atmosphere in Otun Ekiti, headquarters of Moba Local Government area of Ekiti State on Friday as Muslims in the community joined the faithful across the world to celebrate this year’s Eid El Kabir (Ileya) festivities.
In their numbers, led by the Chief Imam, Onipede, the Muslim faithful thronged the Eid Prayer Ground in the community to offer prayers and thank Almighty Allah for witnessing the day.
The Oore of Otun Ekiti and the Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, Oba Adekunle Adeagbo, joined the Muslims in the prayers at the Eid Prayer Ground before he later played host to them at the Oore Palace. The monarch, in his characteristic manner donated to the Otun Ekiti Central Mosque and promised to do more as the need arises.
The Imam thanked Oba Adeagbo immensely for his “consistency and love to the Muslim brethren” since he ascended the throne of his forefathers.
Onipede prayed that the monarch would live long with his family in prosperity and in good health.
After the prayers at the prayer grounds, the Muslim faithful came to Oores Palace to greet Kabiyesi.
The frontline traditional ruler, reiterated his belief in love as a major factor and the need to show love to all irrespective of religion.
Oba Adeagbo advised the Muslims to be selfless and tolerate one another, saying “There is no one that is perfect except the Almighty. You should love the community and be law abiding at all times.
“It is the responsibility of all of us to do things that will promote peace so that our community, our state, our country and indeed the world will make progress. Without peace, there can never be development.
“Religious tolerance and unity create environment of peace and peace creates economic well-being of the people,” Oba Adeagbo said.
The monarch, who said that he felt fulfilled celebrating with the lovely Muslims and the privilege to serve, offered prayers for peace, unity and development in the lives of individuals, community, state and country.
He thanked the Chairman of Moba Local Government, Hon. Fadugba; Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji and President Bola Tinubu as he prayed that Almighty God would give them the wisdom to navigate through the challenges of governance and bring the country to greatness at all levels.
