The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has condoled with the Oore of Otun Ekiti and Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, Oba Adekunle Adeagbo, over the death of his mother, Her Royal Majesty, Olori Janet Ara Adeagbo, fondly called ‘Iya Oba’.
Akume, in a letter to Oba Adeagbo dated 10th September, 2024, condoled with the traditional ruler and the entire Mobaland “over this irreparable loss.
The SGF stated, “I received with a deep shock but in total submission to the will of the Almighty God, the news of the demise of your dearly beloved Queen Mother and matriarch of the Adeagbo family, HRM, Olori Janet Ara Adeagbo.
“I pray the Lord grants Her Majesty’s soul eternal rest, strengthens you, your family, the Oore of Otun Moba and all the loved ones she left behind during this moment of grief. May the Angels welcome our Queen Mother home,” the SGF prayed.
The body of Olori Janet Adeagbo, who died on Saturday 22nd June, 2024 at the golden age of 87 years, will be buried in Otun Ekiti on Friday, September 27, 2024 according to the weeklong burial arrangement released by the family.
In his glowing tribute to the memory of the late HRM Olori Janet Adeagbo, the SGF stated, “Iya Oba’ was a great Olori of substance whose charisma, charm, simplistic disposition to life, people-oriented mindset and deep sense of connection to her family, subjects and community is worthy of emulation.
“Her total dedication to the service of God and humanity, unparalleled commitment to the growth of others through tutelage and impartation of high moral principles are highly commendable and a testament of the Lord’s grace.
“Through life’s journey, she had succeeded in mentoring and nurturing fine gentlemen and ladies who have turned out to be the pride of not just Mobaland, but our nation as a whole. Indeed, her wise counsel will surely be missed at this point in time.
“Isaiah 57:1-2 states; ‘The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death’ Life indeed is a journey we all take and death a definite conclusion. What matters in the end is how we impact on the lives of our loved ones we left behind.
“Iya Oba’s exit at this time has indeed, created a huge vacuum in the hearts of her immediate family, friends and the entire Mobaland that will be difficult to fill.
“I pray the Lord grants Her Majesty’s soul eternal rest, strengthens you, your family, the Oore of Otun Moba and all the loved ones she left behind during this moment of grief. May the Angels welcome our Queen Mother home,” Akume stated.
