“The books capture real incidents, real decision-making and the emotional weight of policing elements absent in theoretical materials. They will, therefore, serve as important training resources for aspiring security professionals”

It was praise galore on Saturday for a gallant officer and Commander of the police Rapid Response Squad in Ekiti State, CSP Marcus Ogundola, unveiled two books on security and policing.
The two new books, “How to Be an Effective and Efficient Security Personnel” and “Mo Jise Iku Ye,” were presented before a distinguished audience of dignitaries, security experts and policymakers.

The event was yet another opportunity for broad discussion on crime prevention and public safety.
This is especially as the books, which were from decades of policing experience, centre on the national conversation on security and proffered conventional solutions to the current situations.
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, commended Ogundola for documenting practical knowledge that both officers and ordinary citizens can apply to guarantee security.

The Commander, Ekiti State Amotekun Corps, Brig. General Olu Adewa (retd), who represented Oyebanji, noted that “the governor values security-oriented literature that helps communities understand the role they must play in maintaining peace”, stressing that the books came at a very critical moment in Nigeria’s security journey.
Adewa noted that “Ekiti State currently enjoys an uncommon level of peace”, owing to the efforts put in place by the Oyebanji administration in collaboration with the security agencies and vigilance groups.
Also speaking, a former Governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose, applauded Ogundola for bridging the persistent gap between theory and practice in Nigeria’s security sector.

Fayose, who was represented on the occasion, said that while many people discussed security from a distance, “Ogundola has lived it on the field, making his two books essential reading for young officers, policymakers, and students in security-related disciplines”.
The Police Commissioner, Ekiti State Command, Joseph Eribo, represented by a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Nyatse Tanimu, described Ogundola as “a thoroughbred professional and gallant officer who has shown rare commitment over the years”.
Other dignitaries including a former member of the House of Representatives is the Commander, Agro Marshall, Olamide Oni, called on policy makers to adopt and implement the various suggestions on the book.

The reviewer of the books, Dr Babatunde from Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, described “How to Be an Effective and Efficient Security Personnel” and “Mo Jose Iku Ye” as crucial texts for students in intelligence and security studies.
Babatunde said, “The books capture real incidents, real decision-making and the emotional weight of policing elements absent in theoretical materials. They will, therefore, serve as important training resources for aspiring security professionals”.

Speaking earlier, the gallant officer and author, CSP Ogundola, said that writing the books required late nights, long days, and honest reflection on his policing journey.
Ogundola said, “The first book focuses on professional discipline, efficiency and operational conduct for security personnel, while the second captures personal experiences meant to guide officers and civilians”.
He expressed profound gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, Dr Kayode Egbetokun; the CP, Eribo; senior officers and all supporters, as he described the publications as his contributions to fostering a safer, more informed society.
