A community leader in Ondo State, Chief Idowu Asonja, has described the death of former Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu and the emergence of Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, as governor as the will of God.

Asonja, the Ondo State Commander of Tantita, the private security outfit saddled with the protection of oil pipelines in the state’s coastal areas, prayed for the repose of the soul of Akeredolu.

The security expert also congratulated Aiyedatiwa on his assumption of office as governor of the state, saying he has what it requires to govern Ondo State.

This was contained in a statement on Thursday, which Asonja personally signed, titled, “Akeredolu’s death, Aiyedatiwa emergence as Ondo Governor will of God – Ondo Tantita Commandant”.

The community leader expressed his deepest regret over the passage of the former governor and conveyed his deep sympathy and condolences to Akeredolu’s family, friends and associates.

He said, “The passage of Governor Akeredolu is a very devastating occurrence. Personally, I feel a personal sense of loss and pray that God will grant his soul enduring repose. I sympathise with the entire Akeredolu family and the entire state.”

The security expert, however, reiterated his conviction that Aiyedatiwa’s emergence as governor was divine, saying, “Even the late governor predicted it. We all saw a video of Governor Akeredolu saying that he will have to descend for Aiyedatiwa to ascend. Nothing can be more prophetic than that.”

Asonja extended heartfelt congratulations to Governor Aiyedatiwa, describing him as “a man who has what it takes to lead the state in a time like this. I know him as a man who is passionate about the progress of the state

“I felicitate the new helmsman, Governor Aiyedatiwa, very heartily, and pray that God will enable him with requisite wisdom and strength to take the state to the next level,” Asonja said.
