The National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria has appointed Coordinators for Southwest.
The coordinators are the Alara of Ilara-Epe, Lagos State, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo; and the Oore of Otun Ekiti and the Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, Ekiti State, Oba Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo.
The appointment of the two frontline monarchs was announced in Abuja on Monday during a Special Meeting of the Council having in attendance select traditional rulers from the six geo-political zones of Nigeria.
The Chairman of the Council, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar and the Co-Chairman, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunmusi, Ojaja II, congratulated Oba Ogunsanwo and Oba Adeagbo on the appointment.
The Council expressed confidence that the traditional rulers would justify the confidence reposed in them by the NCTRN culminating in their appointment by delivering in their assignments.
The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Traditional Matters, Hon. Ari Mohammed Abdulmumin, also congratulated the Alara of Ilara-Epe and the Oore of Otun Ekiti as the New Southwest Coordinators of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria.
Abdulmumin said, “Big congratulations Kabiyesi Alayeluwa Oba (Dr) Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo, Ilufemiloye l, Okinbaloye ll”.
The appointment was based on the monarchs’ consistency, contributions, service, commitment to peace, unity, religious harmony, culture and promotion of the traditional institution.
By the appointment, the Alara, Oba Ogunsanwo and the Oore, Oba Adeagbo have been elevated to members of the National Executive Committee of the NCTRN.
In their reactions, Oore Adeagbo and Alara Ogunsanwo thanked the Sultan of Sokoto and the Ooni of Ife for the appointments.
The traditional rulers promised to serve the Council diligently and efficiently always.
