Police tracking N55m Benz stolen during test drive in Abuja

The police in the Federal Capital Territory have said they are tracking a Mercedes Benz car worth N55million driven away by a customer in the process of test drive.

FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Ameh, said, “The police are tracking the suspect. We are tracking the car”

The incident happened when a car dealer, Manga, released one Mercedes Benz GLB 250 from his stand to a friend, a fellow car dealer, to be shown to a potential customer, Henry, who wanted to buy the type of vehicle.

Henry, who liked the car on seeing it, reportedly drove it away at a petrol station where they were to fuel the vehicle for test drive.

Manga said, “A friend took my Mercedes Benz GLB 250 to a customer. He took the car to his office and the customer came there. He said the customer introduced himself as Henry from Gwarinpa and that he saw the car on an online marketplace.

“He said he liked the car on seeing it; they negotiated N55m for the car and he agreed and demanded to test drive it. He drove the car with my friend sitting on the passenger side of the vehicle. They drove out to a filling station in Garki to buy petrol before the test drive.

“But immediately my friend stepped out of the car at the filling station to withdraw money from the PoS operator to buy fuel, the guy zoomed off with the vehicle.

“He successfully got away with the car because there was no traffic, no hold up in Abuja” he said.
