Persons with disability in the Southwest Zone have paid tributes to the Oore of Otun Ekiti and the Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, Oba Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo, for inclusive administration and concern for the physically challenged.

The Southwest Chairman, National Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities, Rotimi Adeniyi, also hailed Oba Adeagbo for his love for his community.

Adeniyi, who is the Lagos State Chairman of the group, spoke at Otun Ekiti of Tuesday when its leaderships in Lagos, Osun, Ekiti and Ondo states paid courtesy call on the Oore.

He said that the group was in the palace to felicitate Oba Adeagbo on the occasion of his fifth coronation anniversary taking place later in the month, to show appreciation to the traditional ruler for openly embracing everybody including PWDs and to, through the monarch, reach out to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, so that they could discuss some issues of interest with the Ooni.

Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of a honour plaque to Oba Adeagbo by the National Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities.

The Oore, who appreciated the leadership and members of the group for their kind words and gesture, assured them he would convey their message to Ooni Ogunwusi, who he described as a traditional ruler with passion for the PWDs and striving to better their lots at any given opportunity.

Oba Adeagbo, who is the Southwest Coordinator of the National Council of Traditional Rulers, who said the council recently lent its voice to the support for women representation in the national and state assemblies, said such was necessary for the PWDs too.

He assured the group members, “You are educated, you have the capacity and skills, there should be a space for the physically challenged as senators and as House of Representatives members. Being there, when the bills are passed, when the acts are enacted, your representatives will represent your constituency. Any right thinking person and government will support you”.

Oba Adeagbo, who said President Bola Tinubu administration was doing a lot to move the country forward and ensure better lives for the citizenry including the PWDs, canvassed support for the president to be in office beyond 2027.
