A new executive committee of the Ekiti State Hoteliers Association has emerged.

They are Stephen Abimbola, President; Bar. Lucia Adetula, Vice President; Olaosebikan Tope, Assistant General Secretary; Aduloju Kehinde, Financial Secretary; and Akinwande Ajayi, Auditor.

The rest are Olayinka Ogunyemi, Social Secretary; Ijigbo Yomi, PRO; Ajayi Olufemi, Welfare Officer; Ogbona Paul, Treasurer; and Olubusola Olufemi, Chief Whip.

Speaking shortly after their election, the new General Secretary, Olayinka Akomolafe, said that the association would strive to address the issue of taxation.

Akomolafe hinted that the new leadership would have constructive engagement with the Ekiti State Government to resolve the lingering issue of multiple taxation in the hospitality industry.

He said, “One of the major issues affecting the industry is the over-taxation. The hotel industry currently pays the highest numbers of taxes and rates in the state. These are in multiple folds and are contributing negatively to the development and growth of the industry”.

The hotel service expert said that the state government could engage the new executives to have a collective solution.

He said, “It is our belief that just the way the Federal Government engaged every relevant stakeholder in finding a positive landing spot as it concerns the national tax reform, the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, who we see as a listening leader, judging by his approach in handling governance, will soon engage us to find a solution to the issue of multiple taxation in the industry.

‘”I can say the new exco is ready, we are ready for a constructive engagement with the state government. We are partners in progress. We will always stand for the betterment of the industry, the state and the humanity at large,” he said.
