The Boiling Point Arena is celebrating the July 1 born glamour lady on the tube, Nigerian Television Authority’s charming broadcaster, Funmi Wakama, on her birthday today.
It says, “We say congratulations to the broadcaster for all seasons spanning almost four decades and wish her long life and prosperity”.
This was contained in a statement by the Convener, Boiling Point Arena, Ayo Arowojolu, titled, Funmi Wakama, NTA’s charming broadcaster, clocks another year as Boiling Point celebrates her”.
Arowojolu said, “I can almost, with eyes closed, write whole chapters on this charming, delectable celebrity who started out as Funmi Coker. Yes, if you know, you know! Now called Funmi Wakama by marriage, she has spent almost four decades in broadcasting.
“Indeed, I know Funmi all too well. Both of us started out at The Polytechnic, Ibadan in 1985. That was almost 40 years ago, less two actually.
“When I was posted to NTA Channel 7, Tejuoso, Lagos on three months’ Industrial Attachment, I met Funmi there already as a staff. She was already a newscaster, 38 years ago.
“During our days, the training we acquired in Mass Communication in just one year was already sufficient for you to distinguish yourself on the field.
“We also met again in 1988 at the Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta where we both obtained HND after which we proceeded to university”.
“Funmi Wakama has been General Manager at NTA Abeokuta since about five years after her appointment as Special Adviser on Media and Information to former Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun.
“Celebrate her please,” Arowojolu said.
