The management of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), has dismissed as fake news, a report going viral on the social media that the University’s stream A of the 2022/2023 session would resume September 17, 2023.

Registrar of the University, Mufutau Adesina lbrahim, in a press release made available on Tuesday on Ado-Ekiti, said that “the institution remains closed till further notice in honour of late Modupe Deborah Atanda, a 200 Level student who died in recently”.

The statement, which was directly addressed to students of FUOYE, was entitled: Disclaimer on Resumption Date for Stream ‘A’ Students.

The university statement reads in part, “l write on behalf of the university management to request all students particularly, Stream ‘A’ students, to disregard the news of resumption of academic activities being peddled on the social media.

“The University is still mourning our beloved Modupe Deborah Atanda who we lost recently and the decision to reopen the University is yet to be taken.

“The fake circular emanated from dubious persons who are enemies of the University. It wasn’t signed by me (Registrar).

“For avoidance of doubt, the University remains closed until further notice.

“All students will be formally informed of the date of resumption anytime the decision to that effect is taken by the University Management,” the Registrar stated in the statement.
